We were approached by Michele’s landscaping as there were concerns with heavy water flows coming from above parking lots (sheet flows) and eves troughs from the building above the slope which was an exposed clay surface. With the significant rainfall Calgary had been experiencing this summer, it was difficult for anyone to determine the appropriate cover material. They had incorporated the aid of sediment logs, and intermittent sheets of Coconut blanket below the trough, but with very little coverage, there was significant riling down the slope and the seed and loam had been washed out .
Brock White was approached by Michele’s Landscaping (landscape sub for CANA Construction) to offer some solutions to assist with the constant surface erosion and sloughing. During conversation we were informed that C.O.P. is applying for LEED status. We decided to offer American Excelsior’s Recyclex for the slope (approx 1500 m2) for the slope and HenDen Earth Stabilization Dirt Bags (filled with soil and urban F seed mix) for the ditch checks as Michele’s had requested a vegetated earthen berm.
