The original Alberta Hotel was at one time the most luxurious in the city, boasting the first elevator and shower bath, it was deconstructed in 1984. The bricks, sandstone, turret and other architectural details were organized, catalogued and stored for reuse in the Kennedale yard. Today after years of planning and a painstaking task of rebuild the hotel stands proud again. Located on Jasper Ave less than a block from its original location the unique and historic details overlook a small park.
Time and handling left many of the unique architectural materials unusable in the reconstruction of the hotel, leaving gaps in the original design. Jayson Sorotsky of BW Edmonton did an incredible job in researching and delivering to the contractor / architect and project a close match stone to replace that which was damaged.
