Barrier Systems Workshop- Winnipeg
3/29/12 8:15 AM - 12:00 PM
Brock White is a proud sponsor of the Barrier Systems Workshop: Designing and Constructing Lining Systems.
Designing and constructing a lining system is continuously changing and can be a challenging task to implement. This workshop sponsored by Terrafix Geosynthetics and Brock White will benefit engineering consultants, designers, and owners to review current lining technology and to develop solutions to design and construction challenges. The workshop will deal with the design of "barrier systems" which separate waste from the surrounding environment and which are intended to prevent contamination of both groundwater and surface waters. The key speaker will discuss all key aspects of the design of barrier systems, including leachate collection, natural barrier such as clayey aquitards, clay liners, geosynthetic clay liners, geomembranes and composite liners, providing state-of-the-art work of reference of great value to engineers and environmentalists alike.
The presentation will include an update on extensive site research being done at Queen's University, as well as a featured speaker, Dr. R. Kerry Rowe, FREng, FRSC, FCAE, P.Eng. Dr. Rowe has been the author of over 500 publications and has extensive research and consulting experience in geosynthetics and geoenvironmental engineering.
